Anyone running engineering projects in the UAE and Saudi Arabia knows just how brutal the outdoor environment is for metal components. Daytime temperatures easily push 40°C or 50°C, and coastal areas are constantly blasted by hot, humid, high-salt sea breezes. If you don't get the corrosion protection right on your industrial platforms or maintenance walkways, the steel grating will rust through in just a few years.
Why does everyone specifically demand hot-dip galvanizing?
Standard painting or cold galvanizing (electro-galvanizing) layers are simply too thin to withstand the Middle Eastern salt spray. Hot-dip galvanizing involves dipping the steel into molten zinc at hundreds of degrees, bonding the zinc layer directly with the base steel. Even if workers accidentally scratch the surface with a tool during onsite installation, the surrounding zinc will provide sacrificial cathodic protection, effectively "healing" the gap and preventing the underlying iron from exposing and rusting.
Furthermore, custom fabrication is a strict requirement for the Middle East market:
- Anti-Slip Surfaces: Oil and gas platforms or chemical plants are often slick with oil and grease. We always recommend that clients choose serrated flat bars. They provide excellent grip and keep workers from slipping.
- Tailored Dimensions: Projects in Saudi Arabia are massive, with incredibly complex piping networks. We advise clients to have the exact length, width, and necessary pipe cutouts pre-fabricated directly at our factory. Once it arrives on-site, it fits together perfectly like a puzzle. This saves workers from using cutting machines on-site, which destroys the protective zinc coating.
